So much has changed for me in the past year. Among many things, I had my first child, Tiye, and I am now a married man. Ironically, after a couple months of my daughter being born, I was fired from my job. I used that painful experience as inspiration for this project which I am excited to present to you.
The word Sankofa is a word in the Twi language of Ghana that translates as "Go back and get it". I am returning to my roots in an effort to enter a new dimension musically, sonically, spiritually and communally. I have never approached music so personally as I have with the creation of Sankofa. I am bringing raw, unapologetic music for those who have waited so patiently for me to arrive at this destiny. For those who are new to this journey, welcome. For those who have traveled down this uncharted path with me since day one, be rest assured, we have arrived at the promised land.
Okay, this part's important. You're probably wondering when the album will be released. I will only release this project when 1,000 signups on the waiting list have been collected. So when it releases is completely up to you! Once 1,000 signups have been collected, I will release Project Sankofa first to those who signed up and one week after to the rest of the world.
